BRITS SUFFER FINAL HEARTACHE

The British pair of Laura Robson and Andy Murray has been defeated in the final of the tennis mixed doubles competition of the London Olympics by the Belarusian pair of Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka. The match was pretty close and could have gone either way. But, the Belarusian pair played well during the key moments of the game and won the match by 2-6, 6-3, 10-8. The match got finished in 1 hour and 22 minutes.

The British pair started in an aggressive mood and broke the service of the Belarusian pair in the first and the third game of the opening set. The British pair won the first four games consecutively to take a lead of 4-0. However, the Belarusian pair came back and held their service in the fifth and the seventh game, but, that was not enough. Robson and Murray won the first set easily by 6-2.

After losing the first set, there was a lot of pressure on the Belarusian pair, but, Mirnyi and Azarenka didn’t get hopeless and came into the second set all guns blazing. Having gone a set up, many fans were tempted to have a bet on Andy Murray, and they were soon to be disappointed.

They broke the service of Murray-Robson in the third game and then held their service in the next game to make the score 3-1. In the next four games, neither of the two pairs was able to find a breakthrough and the score was 5-3. But, the British pair wasn’t able to hold the service in the ninth game and lost the second set by 3-6.

In the match tie breaker, Mirnyi-Azarenka made a very good start and won the first three points in a row to take a lead of 3-0, but, the British pair fought hard and leveled the score to 6-6. The Belarusian players held their nerves in the final moments of the match and won the Gold medal.

Max Mirnyi got very emotional after winning the match, telling the tennis latest news websites that he can’t express his happiness in words. As per Mirnyi, it is one of the biggest wins of his career.
